![]() Telephone NumberOverall Rating: By: Victor Banonis on Saturday, March 01, 2008From: Port St Lucie, FL (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: Number comes up Unknown name unknown numberSummary: I like your telephone service and rates-- What I don't like is that you don't identify the number and name on Caller ID My daughter sometimes refuses to answer because she doesn't know that its me calling. 15 out of 34 people found this review helpful Terrible ServiceOverall Rating: By: ruby blue on Monday, February 25, 2008From: newington, NH (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: Cheap ratesCons: Terrible, horrible, rude customer service. Frequent international disconnections.Summary: After using this service for over 5 years, my phone was suddenly and inexplicably disconnected without any notice. After many frustrating calls to OPEX and the assurance that I would be re-connected (ridiculously enough, it would take them a week!), I was still without service after 2 weeks. I just placed my final call to them to say I wanted to completely discontinue my relationship with the company. The operator said, "oh, you've already been disconnected, so ok."...this the response after years of getting my business??? She never offered an apology or attempted to keep my business. She couldn't have cared less. I will never recommend this company again. 19 out of 38 people found this review helpful Opex value Plus 2.7Overall Rating: By: Richard Nikolai on Tuesday, February 12, 2008From: Abilene, TX (United States) Experience: 2 Months Pros: I have only had the service for 2 months and so far I have not experienced any problems. We are well pleased with the rates and service. 20 out of 41 people found this review helpful The Best Value in VoIPOverall Rating: By: T Bowman on Friday, February 08, 2008From: Arlington, TX (United States) Experience: 3 Months Pros: The quality is good, but features and overall value is outstanding! Cons: Getting voicemail setup was initially challenging but now works well. The server response is often too slow, resulting in a frustrating online experience when making changes to the service or account.Summary: I have three home telephone lines. Service to all three lines was provided by a digital cable company. When the monthly base rate per line increased to $39.95, I decided to look at some alternatives. I switched one line to Phonedog, another to a major Bell carrier and the third to another VoIP company. Phonedog is the most feature-rich and easily managed but least expensive of the three. I'll be switching my other VoIP line to Phonedog as soon as my minimum commitment is satisfied. 19 out of 32 people found this review helpful Customer Service FailsOverall Rating: By: Karen Souza on Wednesday, January 23, 2008From: Limington, ME (United States) Experience: 1 Years Pros: Cheap ratesCons: Poor customer service with no followthroughSummary: Credit card was charged 2 or 3 times a month for the same service. Called the company monthly, faxed copies of my credit card bills and the e-mail statements of what my monthly bill was supposed to be, but to no avail. No call back. Never got to speak with someone who could fix or explain the issue. Long "on hold" times also. I tried to resolve this for 1 year. Just awful! 24 out of 46 people found this review helpful Good service - Low priceOverall Rating: By: Jan H. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008From: Willoughby Hills, OH (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: I don't make that many calls so this plan has worked well for me. I went from $40 per month in long distance charges to less than $10.Cons: NoneSummary: I usually pay more than the bill amount when it arrives (since it is so low). Then, I can go for a few months with no bill. It's worked well for me. 19 out of 39 people found this review helpful Switch to Total Call caused big change in qualityOverall Rating: By: kimberly gabellini on Sunday, January 13, 2008From: richmond, CA (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: Always liked Opex, had no problemsCons: Since switch to Total call, customer service poor, getting charged for calls I didn't make and can't get consistent answers with customer service for the charges.Summary: I cancelled service today--too many problems. 17 out of 38 people found this review helpful OPEXOverall Rating: By: Douglas Franklin on Monday, January 07, 2008From: Grass Valley, CA (United States) Experience: 90 Days Pros: Efficient, Saves money, and avoids the big monopoly AT&T.Cons: None.Summary: When AT&T cut off my flat rate long distance service because I had a fax machine, it was a no-brainer to sign up with OPEX for the best rates available with no strings attached. 18 out of 32 people found this review helpful ReviewOverall Rating: By: Jim Webster on Monday, December 24, 2007From: Ocean Pines, MD (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: Low costCons: Monthly minimum feesSummary: This service is installed at a vacation home; there are months when no LD calls are made, so it has no value for me during those months. 16 out of 35 people found this review helpful opex value plus 2/7Overall Rating: By: mary honeysuckle on Friday, December 07, 2007From: ethel, LA (United States) Experience: 3 Months Pros: it takes a lot of pressure off making long distance calls when you know the bill is not going to dig into your grocery money.Cons: have noneSummary: I do recommend opex to all I know, my daughter is changing over now too. 17 out of 43 people found this review helpful |
Long Distance - Did you know? Many people think using Calling Cards are less expensive than using regular long distance. How can this be? Don’t they have to pay for the usage of the same lines as everyone else? Sure they do, but calling card companies have become experts in marketing tactics!Read the fine print of the calling card, they often charge for units, not minutes. A unit can be any measure of time they decide, plus they often have minimum call amounts and round up to the next unit. The bottom line is, they have done the math, and it’s going to cost most people more money than selecting a good long distance plan.
